My favorite fairytale is Shrek. Where else are you going to get a prince and princess as ugly as those two and still have a happily ever after.
It's inspirational!!

The Far Away Tree. Though I don't know if you can class that as a fairytale. More favourite fantasy novel, I guess. The traditional fairy tales annoy me though. All these handsome princes' saving the poor damsel in distress. Makes me twitch.

Thumbelina - it is just an amazing story. And for me, it conjures up the sweetness of my own childhood. My mom so much remembered how this fairy tale made me feel that she gave to me the very book she used to read to me. It's a collection of children's fairy tales and it must be over 100 years old. It is something I treasure. Thumbelina was written by Hans Christian Andersen.
