If you have XP:
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Systems Restore
A new window comes up select "restore my computer to an earlier date and click "next" then choose the date you want "next" and start the restore !!

Hope it helps

Yeah, If it is XP it is easy to restore using System Restore.
To do so you may need to create check points regularly.
If you find your system in a stable state and want to restore back to that anytime in future, better create a check point at that stage. That will be stored by XP. Later on you can use system restore program to restore back to any of the checkpointed dates.

BTW You didn't mention about the system you are running.

I have Windows XP. I go to "Start" then "All Programs" then "Accessories" then "System Tools" then "System restore" ... then follow directions. Good luck, If that doesn't work try "help" in windows explorer.
