I wanted to do this as a science experiemnt with my students and could not find it as an experiement anywhere.

Water that has been recently boiled has driven off the dissolved gases contained in itself, so it will freeze more readily than water that has not been boiled recently.

A substance, hot water in this case has to lose heat to become cool.After it has become cooled there is a futher lost of heat for it to become cold & then freeze. Cold water is closer to the freezing point than hot water.Hence we may reason this from a logical perspective that cold water freezes before hot water

Good Day
Take your class out side and try a experiment. One small container with hot water and one of the same size container with cold water. While you are at it try another experiment. A piece of black material an a piece of white . Place them on snow and see which material the snow melts under first. This will show that black material are hotter than white.
