Because the world asks it of us and we are generous. Look at history and when ever there is a problem in the world they look to us for help and answers.
No other country in the world shows the will to better the lives of their neighboring countries.
I'm at the point in my beliefs that we should kick the U.N. out of America and withdraw our membership. You can call me a protectionist if you want.... I think we should shrink back to our borders for a few years and let the world fend for itself for awhile and realize just what it means to have a United States of America in the world.... To many times a government or a people have cashed our checks or benefited from our resources on Friday and flipped us the bird on Monday...

The answer to this question is inside your question.Just because you have problems and you are unable to overcome it then the U.S must take the iniative to put everything inorder.When we were young at school,the monitar of the class room , is always the strongest of us.
