Isreal is located in the Middle East. It is surrounded by The Mediteranean Sea to the West, Lebannon to the North, Syria and Jordan to the East and Egypt to the South West.
Israel declared its independence in 1948. With a diverse population currently exceeding seven million citizens of primarily Jewish background and religion, it is the world's only Jewish state. Jerusalem is the capital city and seat of government. Israel is the only country in the Middle East considered to be a liberal democracy, having a broad array of political rights and civil liberties present.
In addition, Israel is considered the most advanced in the region in terms of economic competition, business regulations, freedom of the press, and overall human development.

They believe the Old Testament is fact. You know the bit about God giving them the Holy Land. Not many peoples these days lay claim to land from 2000+ years ago. Since then the Celts of Britain were pushed back by Ango-Saxon invaders, the Franks invaded Gaul and made it France, the Turks took Greek Anatolia, etc, etc. Waves and waves of people have changed the ethnic map of Earth over the centuries. Staking a claim to lands owned in the years BC is curious. However, it is a reality now. Just as the Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britian 1500 years ago is a reality. So the Israelis are there to stay.

Geographically it's the Middle East, but since the rest of that region is Islamic countries which do not have good relations with Israel, they tend to participate with Europe in sports and other things (e.g. the Eurovision Song Contest).

It is the middle East, (despite taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest ect), Israel is the worlds only Jewish state and is surrounded by Muslim states such as Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt.
Its absolutely beautiful, i recommend it for a visit!!!

Israel is in the middle east.....however the majority of the Israeli people appear to live in and hold high positions in both the U.S and the U.K and go on and on about the holocaust to try to make US feel guilty!!!! 1) it was in the past get over it (You don't here me going on about the highland clearances do you)????? 2) Most importantly It was the GERMANS!!!!! Not us!!!!! So stop rewriting history in films and trying to dictate wars against Arabs on behalf of your 'father land' and either go back and join the fight or if you MUST live in the west forget the past and get on with living....Life is TOO short!!!!!!
