Because, well many reasons. The songs (both melody and lyrics) are suberb and its a brilliant plot line. The original story was very confused of its genre, was it a mystery, a romance etc. But it was simplified, it represents every dream of romance of being whisked away and being loved. It also combines this in a theatre representing our longing for fame. Phantom of the opera is a fantastic musical and has been turned into an amazing film as well.

It is a fantastic piece of music by Andrew L Webber,based on a truely amazing love story, beautiful songs, that have sold millions. Seen the show 4 times.

Its a type of enduring love story that cannot be completed for one reason or another. There are emotions in the story that tug at alot of peoples heartstrings making it well received as a result.

What made it significant in the UK was that it was haunting and that FRANK SPENCER COMEDY LEGEND HIMSELF!!! was the lead part and people were intrigued with his talent.
