to be comfortable in wearing your high heels...of course they have to fit you well(if it is closed) and won't be too tight on your feet or too loose. get used to wearing them, "practice" walking in them everyday. in our school, it is required that the graduating pupils (grade 6 and 4th year high school) wear black, closed, high heeled shoes, and the first time i wore mine, my feet were aching! but i "practiced" or got used to wearing them by walking around our house wearing my high heels.
the height of the heels matter too, if they are low (like 1 1/2 inches or below) they won't hurt because they are not too high. of course, if your heels are high (i mean REALLY high like 2 inches or more) they will sure be aching by the end. just be sure that you, yourself will be comfortable in wearing them, not too tight or loose, and not too high. and make sure that the width of your heels are not too thin 'cause thin heels put more pressure on your feet than thick ones, but you shouldn,t go for the really thick ones 'cause they won't look good. medium is good or something close to that.
hope i helped!

some people's arches just can't handle high heels. go ask your podiatrist, or someone who can tell you if wearing high heels is advisable. if it is:
get some sort of gel or soft material for the shoe so it doesnt feel as hard and uncomfortable, or maybe some sort of arch support
otherwise, work your way up, heelwise. forgoe the kitten heels, and start with a thick 1-2 inch heel (sturdy, not a skinny spiky one) and walk around in those for a while and see if you can deal with it. if you can, gradually work your way up to three or four inches, though higher may be inadvisable if you think you cant walk in them.

Well, to be comfortable in wearing heels and while walking, select some best brand of your size not too tight, or a light weighted wedges would be the best type for you.

Practice around home daily until your feet get used to them, and slowly work up the height. ;)
