It's all about hormones.

Love of our own (and I refer to all animals that care for their young, not just humans) children is from the evolutionary past. Those creatures that didn't love their children let them die & thus didn't pass on those genes.

Love, as related to sex, is what produced the children in the first place. It didn't start with humans.

We all are parts & parcels of GOD. So we have parts of the qualities & characteristics of his. One of this is love. God loves each & every thing / being he created. We have a part of this quality of God as we too do love sme of the things & beings he created.
