That isn;t the usual profile they look for.

Try http://www.brokerjobs.com; there is some useful information. Stay away from the boiler room shops, though.

In the US, I think all you have to do is find a firm willing to hire you and have them sponser you to take and hopefully pass the Series 7 exam. The 1st part is the really hard part. Passing the exam is just a matter of studying for long hrs. You don't need a specific major. I have a comp sci degree and was offered a job as broker. It's really about selling yourself. My friend was an EE major working in a fish market before he was hired as a broker. You also have to pass a drug test and keep clean (felons need not apply). As for portfolio manager, it's a long road to get there. The ranks are analyst, associate, and then you might become a portfolio manager. Analyst and associates do the grunt work. You'll probably need an MBA to reach your goal. Consider also the CFA exam. Just do a google search to find out more. I recomemd taking level 1 CFA exam to help get your foot in the door. Hope this helps. Good luck.

starting to be an economist or getting a good degree in finance can help yet no longer some thing beats discovery and having a mentor. starting to be a broking service is more beneficial about sales then securities.
