Because they are "reasonable" people using their capacity to think. Jesus was a socialist also, but you will not find any Christians admit it.

Because Scandinavia is not a purely socialist region. In fact many old-line socialists would not say they were socialist at all. They have a mixed economy, that is, private companies run in a similar fashion to any private company in the world. That generates much of the wealth. They have also spent fifty or a hundred years making as sure as possible that every child in the country was educated to the highest degree that resources and ability can allow.
The difference between North Korea and say Sweden is not that one is socialist, the other has a mixed economy or is capitalist or is somewhere in between, it is the quality of government within a particular system. It is also access to resources.
The North Koreans have been cursed with a government of particularly poor quality following a command system that has lasted 50 years. If they had a government like that of Sweden, they would be far better off and would probably rival other small states in Asia for prosperity and exceed most.

It isn't bad. The United States of America has been benefiting from Socialism for a little over a century now.
We have laws in this country against murder, rape, theft and assault because individual people can not be trusted to govern themselves. So too do we have regulations that keep corporations from making profit through any means necessary, because organizations of individual people can not be trusted to self regulate.
In fact, any regulation that doesn't allow corporations from hiring children, making them work 23 hours a day, chaining them in their position and making highly toxic substances in lethal environments while selling the toxins as candy to the masses is a socialist law.

I think it means you are full of it. Go try it moron then come back a year later and tell us how great socialism is, be sure and try their wonderful medical care system, like have an aneurism and see how great the treatment is, or maybe have a ruptured disk and see how quickly you get to see a surgeon.

In most places, pure socialism has proved an abysmal failure. In Scandinavia it has worked to some extent due to oil sales and a relatively small number of non-payers into the system; its sustainability over time, however, perhaps is questionable.

They don't have a massively large army to support. They don't have thousands of airports to maintain, as well as hundredth of thousands of miles of roadway to keep up.
Maintaining infrastructure, by the way, is a social program. You might want to compare the per capita cost between the two countries. I'd wager you'd find the USA spends more per capita of social programs.

I guess they enjoy big government. They are not interested in individual freedom, the individual right to make their own choices. They only know what the government wants them to know, and a large portion of their earnings go to support the government who makes all the important choices for them. Personally, I don't want to see George Orwell's stories come true in my lifetime. We have two factions in this country. One that keeps us on the very edge of socialism. The other faction, a majority I would hope, will continue to fight for our freedom.

Because the Scandinavians live in a smaller society. Also if they do not work and wait for the government to take care of them they will die.
