Hi, can somebody tell me when the school holidays are for Easter in the US. Are they the same as in the UK i.e. Monday the 2nd April until Friday 13th April inclusive. I am going to Florida on 15th April as I was told that the school holidays for Easter are the same over there as in the UK, however I have now been told that the Easter holiday in the US starts on Monday 16th April. Can anybody please clarify?

Thanks Robbie, I assumed it was the same as here so booked the holiday and when I booked the theme park tickets (from a company based in the UK) they confirmed that it was a good time to go as it was after the Easter holidays in the US too. Then on a Florida forum on the internet, they said that the Easter holidays in the US start on 16th April. So confusing!

The spring/easter holidays in the U.S. can be very confusing, as it is different not only from state to state, but sometimes even within a state. Most schools in the U.S. have what is called a "spring break" rather than easter break, and for most is in late march. However, some schools ... and again hard telling which ones, have their spring break in april. One of the schools my son attended had a break in february then another one in mid-april.

So, in short, it's kind of hard to say without checking with various school districts and/or state educational websites. Also, what is spring break for elementary and secondary schools is generally not the same time as spring break for colleges and universities.

As you may have noted in what I have said .. the spring break in the U.S. is not at all associated with when Easter is.

Easter is the same all over the world. It's possible school holidays differ in the States.

This "Florida forum" could be giving you the wrong information. The internet is full of bogus facts like that. Ring the U.S. Embassy and get the correct information from them.

well, here we have spring break and mine does not overlap w/ easter, it is different at different schools, but always in march or april for 1 or 2 weeks. then cuz easter is on a sunday, we don't get any time off around then (unless that's when you have spring break)
