Okay, here's the deal. I have not been sleeping. I have the opportunity, my 5 month old sleeps through the night starting at 8 and waking up at 8, but I just can't sleep. I am breatfeeding my baby, so there is a limit at to what I can take. Can anyone think of anything I can take? Has a doctor prescribed anything to anyone while they are breatfeeding saying it is safe for baby?

go to a health food store and get MELATONIN- it's completely natural- it's the exact same hormone that your body releases so you can fall asleep- so there is NO WAY it will harm you OR your baby! You can take it while pregnant also.

you can try melatonin, the all natural nitecap (its made by the body but you may not have enough) you can buy it in the stores..
get your face in the sun at least 15 minutes a day when possible for up to 10,000units of Vitamin D..
be sure you are taking vitamins and getting some form of exercise to burn off calories and energy during the day..walking is the best and you can take the baby along 20-30 minutes or more..and stairs up and down 20 times or more
or get some form of "sleep' tablets from the store. and take half of one tablet first and buld up if it doesn't give you enough sleepy time...
they also make sleepPM which has Tylenol in it
You don't have to get a brand name bc it's more expensive, just go with the store brand if you can..it has the same ingredient (read label...diphenhydramine or doxylamine)
Brands are Unisom, ExedrinPM, TylenolPM, BayerPM etc..

awww this has to be the hardest for a new mum! it really doesnt get any easier either LOL

try this, at 8 when bubs goes down, run yourself a warm bath, put some of the jonnsons bedtime bath in it (trust me this works lol) lie in the bath and read, then when you get out of the bath, make yourself a warm milky drink and go to bed, even if you dont fall asleep you will be resting which is just as important, dont take anything, just try this every night and after a few days you will find that it works,
i hope you get some sleep soon
