No, I think some rules are stupid -I'm opposed to most dress codes, for example, and I think it's ridiculous pot is illegal in the US while alcohol is not- but fortunately most rules and laws do make sense and are there for good reason!

Silly and arbitrary rules yes, they are there to be broken!

Nope, absolutely no. Rules are not meant to be broken but it is fun to do that & also dangerous at times. You must have heard a burnt child dreads fire. Why not a child dreads fire?
We all have a naughty child in us who always compell us for a first hand experience or to be a rebel even if in a soft manner.
As for me, honestly I feel life is also for free expressions & not always for good expressions. So, if there is a rule which you want to break then go ahead & do it provided it doesnot jeoparadize anyone's life or trust or....list will go on...rather I will tell you one of my fundas that helps me during decision-making----never risk something that you can't afford to lose. Risk only what you can easily let go. Breaking rules is like taking a risk. I hope this will help in deciding which rule has to be followed like a religion & which has to be ignored.

It is easy to figure out now that I have myself broken many rules . Hey! I am not going to give you any tips on that :)))
so I'll end it here.

CW : as usual.........good answer

No, that is usually a cope out for people to get their own way by saying "rules are made to be broken", what would our highways be like if everyone did their own thing on them? Being an adult means behaving in a sociably acceptable manner and rules are just manners to make life easier to live with those around us.

To test the boundaries, to see how far I can go without consequences or punishment---has always something I have aspired to. (See I broke a grammatical rule--dangling participle!) Sometimes it is not actually breaking the rules-but getting AROUND rules that truly intrigues me. Or making the rules work in your favor. Or catching someone you dislike breaking a rule. Rules, in my opinion, are made for everything except following. Rules are for people who enjoy being ruled!

On occasion rules can be broken. It can keep you healthy. Like in traffic. You can be killed keeping strictly to the rules. Rules are only good if the don't do damage, then they have to be changed. As a policy try to keep the rules, but if that is not possible, don't worry as long as your motivation is a good and defendable one.

Yes, rules are made to be broken in some cases...(unless it's for safety or health... then it must be followed strictly)

Anything that has rules in life has a clause of 'stick with this unless' built into it.

There are a million examples I could thik of, but the number one is in love... there are fine line rules that everyone thinks are there, but when it comes to love, there really isn't any rule that I wouldn't break in order to have the love of my life with me.
1) When he's at work, if I ned to hear his voice, I call, or visit.. rule breaker?.. yes, do I care?.. Nope
2) If something was to happen to him in a place that I couldn't go to... I'd go and fight, sneak, and break all the rules till I was with him.
Another example is with kids..
Each one is unique and has their own rules, not one of them yet has been ruled by anothers set plan, they make their own courses and rules of who they are and what they want to be in life.

Yahoo Answers... the rules are broken all the time...extra ID's, things placed out of catagory, non answer answers... etc.

But I'm the same, if someone tells me something to do, as a rule, then I'd be wary of breaking that rule for fear of upsetting them.... not that f it wasn't important enough, I wouldn't break that rule...It just depends on the situation I suppose.

Miss Moon, I know there is a rebel in you somewhere... a biker chc just waiting to get out.... occasionally, just throw rules to the wind, and make your own path... Hugs.

It depends on how stupid n silly the rule is...but even if it's not stupid I am like you, I'm tempted to do something when I'm told not to...as long as it doesn't hurt no one. Laws on the other hand is another story.

Rules are made to be broken.

Hey spidery, don't do ____!!! I mean it!!! hehe

For me all rules can be broken. It's up to the self to break it or not. I try to play by the rules to keep the harmony, but I break some rules once in a while... or when I want to. ... Which is... everyday. :)

rules are made for our well being and better life. if you are feeling that you cant follow the rule , then try to think about others too .your are not alone in this whole earth who is following the rule , there r others peoples to who are following it.try to control yourself , if you lack self control then how small is your strength. rules r for your betterment , if you take it postively you will be enjoying it and will get the good results later on in life , and you will understand its importance.
if you take it negatively as your binded or forced to do something , then you yourself will face the problem later on.
thats y follow the rule if you wanna be happy and sucessful in future.
