Most of us basically love Alfie (be honest, we do!), but how many of us think that maybe the WRU should consider not using him for TV interviews?

After his appearance on Scrum V last year, and his comments about the man of the match award on Saturday, I just think perhaps we need to use someone who puts a bit more thought into what he says before he says it! I also wonder if the man of the match award would have been "crap" if he had won it instead of Hooky?

(and yes I know he's first in line to speak because he's captain but someone's ability to lead and motivate on the field doesn't always mean they can handle the media off the field)

I agree that we can all say stuff in the heat of the moment that maybe we don't mean, but poor Alfie is starting to make a habit of it and surely, what Welsh rugby needs right now is for people with his vast experience to set a positive example and show a level head. All Alfie is going to do is stir up bad feeling amongst the team and the staff unless he calms down and starts being more gracious in the media!

Personally I think Alfie shouldn't have played rugby for Wales again after the part he played in stirring up the players revolt against Mike Ruddock.....but the WRU didn't have the guts to take such a decisive action.

The guy (despite his obvious talents as both a player and captain) showed enourmous immaturity in the incident and he has to be at least partly responsible for how Wales can go from a Grand Slam winning team to narrowly avoiding the wooden spoon (with effectively the same players) in such a short space of time.

As for the second part......if anybody scores 22 points out of 27 in a winning side....they've got to be favourite for man of the match....even SJ.

You say certain things that you dont mean in the heat of the moment especially after a highly charged game such as Wales v England.

What he said in the Mike Ruddock debate has nothing to do with today & now.

If he is the man to captain Wales when Stephen Jones isnt available then yes I think he should captain Wales.

He will not be playing International Rugby that long after this years world cup as he said that it looks likely that he will retire from the international Scene.

I think that he does a great job for Wales whether he is captain or not.

Alfie is a world class rugby player from the top drawer but he wouldn't win any points on mastermind, but at least he speaks his mind openly .he lacks the diplomacy necessary to handle the media

He may have meant, that all the team is "MOM", at the end of the day, he is a good leader who is very vocal. This was shown on Saturday.

He never has been a great fan of the "MOM" award anyway!

At the end of the day, most rugger players have more brawn than brain!

Most of the player are difficult to understand after a game. They are tired and have 'heavy' accents so you can't always make out what they are saying. Maybe a 'spokesman' should be appointed instead.

We don't seem to respond well to sweet talk and mollycoddling.

So Wales need a raving over-emotional nutcase to captain them.

And boy isn't he just...
