Discarded Pakistan player Shoaib Akhtar also known as Rawalpindi Express has delivered the fastest ball in the history of one day cricket or test cricket ever since they started measuring the speed. Shoaib bowled to Nick Knite of England in a World Cup match in South Africa in 2003 and the delivery was clocked at 161.3 km/h or 100.4 mph. He bowled again with the same speed in the next over to the same batsman. For your information this speed measuring is not officially recognized by the ICC, the ruling body of cricket, and its just by some private companies for the amusement of cricket lovers.

Shoaib bowled the fastest recorded ball, 161.3, in a One Day International at Nick Knight (England) during the last World Cup in South Africa at Cape Town. Follow this link to watch it:

However, it is common knowledge in the cricket world that he is not the fastest bowler ever. The general consensus is that Jeff Thomson of Australia was quicker, and I can vouch that Andre van Troost of Holland was the quickest thing ever seen in the modern English County game. His problem was that he had absolutely no idea where it was going, and was as likely to kill 2nd slip as hit the batsman or wickets!

Brett Lee was measured at 168.34 kph in the nets.
