I've got about 100 full albums of varying length stored on my 30GB iPod, using up between 4-5GB of capacity, so a 2GB player should be able to handle between 40-50 albums on average, assuming a 128kbps bit-rate (the default rate on iTunes). Figure most albums for about 10 songs, and that gets you a confident 400 and a possible 500. You can adjust it up, however, by lowering the bit-rate of the songs, as long as you don't mind losing clarity of audio by doing so.

approximately 400 songs but that depends on the format and the size. the amount id based on each song being 4 minutes or shorter so it he song is more than that then you cut your time. i have 337 songs on mine with an average playtime of about 4:40- 7minutes. i hope that helps.

each song is about 3 - 4mb long if at 128 bit rate.
let say 4mb, so 2GB is equal to 2000mb, therefore can hold 500 songs.
