I do believe going rate is about 67-68 Jamaican dollars to 1 American dollar.
Will find out for sure in 3 days!!!
There isn't too much preference for one or the other although American money is slightly more desirable. And some places/resturants take only Jamaican dollars . Have both.
And keep an eye open. I just love reading a menu with Jamaican prices, getting a bill in American dollars and getting Jamaican dollars for change.

Everywhere accepts US dollars so just take those. You will need 1000 Jamaican dollars departure tax but your hotel will provide these in exchange for US dollars.

You can use either US Dollars or Jamaican Dollars when on holiday in Jamaica.
Airtours brochures recommends that tourist use US Dollars.
Hope that helps

you can use jamaican dollars or u.s. dollars. i found it better to change all my money into jamaican dollars and deal only in them you get a lot better value for your money. remember when going anywhere in jamaica carry only the money you need with you and haggle for everything. jamaica is a wonderful country but check out the price of everything before purchasing meals, taxi's etc.
