Me and my family have been thinking alot about funerals and what we'd like them to be like as my aunts funeral was on Friday. My brother said everyone should sing ludacris. I said that the church should be divided men on one side women on the other. The men sing 'calafornia dreaming' and the women sing the backing.

I dont imagine just my funeral, I also wonder about how I am going to die...

1. Death: I would like to die in the open space, with lots of sunshine and trees and flowers. I would like to hold a few fresh flowers in my hand - smile at the sky above, and feel the earth under my skin, a gentle breeze touching me and calling me to fly with it,never to return ...and become one with them - a free soul back to its elements.
I dont want to die inside a hospital with doctors trying to save a dying body. I dont want pathetic tubes in attached to my body.

Now to my funeral:

I beleive that cremenating the body will be the best solution, I want to be cremenated and my ashes dissloved in the waters of the world, and washed away in a wild frenzy to visit all the farthest corners of the world, never to return

I'd want my funeral to be a celebration of my life. Like the funeral of Ronald Reagan, I'd want to blast my favorite movie tunes and invite my family for cheesecake and ice cream. Then maybe they'll think less of the cold stiff and more on the the person I was when I was still alive.

Humans don't know of any way to stop death. In the long run it will occur with all living things. But the complete death of a person can at least be delayed by remembering who they were. It sounds trite, but memory does keep some aspect of them alive, however finite and unsatisfying.

It depends upon your age and attitude ti life.
For a person aged 20 to 30 it is only an imagination.
For persons from ages40 to 50 it is not a matter of present concern
For persons from 50 to 60, it is an awareness.
People above 60 definitely will plan, how their funeral should be. Having lived a sufficiently long duration they have time to look back. It may be a simple one or with pomp and splendour.
My funeral- I wish it to be as simple as possible., but with lot of donations to public charities.
What is there to see after death?

This is supposed to be a GRAVE thing, but you had removed the G from it and want this to be a treat for all those present ?
Funeral is the last respect we show to a departed soul , so that he/she finds solace in the next life.
I am a Hindu. We do not believe in the decomposition of the body. But that does not mean , we show any disregard to the person departed.
We have strict rituals which we try to follow as much as possible , to show our gratitude.
It is as simple as possible and as practical it can be.We never contemplate how our funeral will be. This is also not a healthy and happy occassion to demand such importance.

Birth is certain and there is growth / making of friends, relationships and meeting of every individual in life from social, economical and other way of community living - natural to visit church and meeting all men, women, sisters, brothers and expressing of many ideas. sharing of feelings. Natural is that Death comes and funeral takes place. I must think how best I lived and how much liking and friendhsip and contacts developed during my own life. Why I think of funeral now. If at all I expect all my friends, relationship and contacts gather and following the rules of church and pray for eternity in that Heaven.

Both are good ideas. Make it from the heart right?

I like the idea of a love-in with music....you know a night time ceremony with a comfortable feel of family, friends and love.....where honest reflection on a life is paramount, good stories shared, good food brought and served, and a d.j. for mine with alot of good new and old music.....I want to be remebered for having a funeral where people went into it crying, and left with a smile and a good laugh in my memory and better days.

I think I will leave it to others to decide. Let them find the easiest and quickest way. how does it matter to a dead person. My only wish is that my funeral should be hassle -free. no problem for others.

I want to be creamated and I want my son to keep my ashes at his house. I don't know if I want a funeral, maybe they could spend the money on a party instead or donate it to a charity.

I am non-christian, a Hindu to be precise. World wide, there are different ways of doing the last rites for the departed souls. Whatever be the rites, I wish that the occasion should be solemn, and the rites be inexpensive and short. The dear ones of the departed soul, should accept the death of the dead and reconcile to the fact that he is no more.
