I am working in one of the Multi-National Company in Cebu. I am temporary employee and my contract was only 3 months, I started my employment here since May 2006 and my contract was only 3 months. August 08, 2006 was the end of my contract yet until now I am still in the company. When I approached the HRD, they told me that they are waiting about the feedback from my superior but until now they don't have decision for me. The company is mimizing their manpower, can they terminate me anytime even though I am already working here for almost 8 months but not signed any contract? Please help me and tell me what I am going to do...thank you so much...

You can be terminated by your employer at anytime without cause since your contract has expired. It would be a good idea to try and get a new contract as soon as possible, especially if the company is reducing the workforce.

Yes, they can terminate you. A period of time is not needed at all by your HRD. The period of time that is only needed is for them to find another employee - which is why they expect an employee to abide by their 2 week notice rule. They can let you go any time they feel like it. I would not worry though... you have been there for so long already since the contract expired. If they really wanted to get rid of you, they would have kicked you out already. Obviously, you are doing something right!

Yes, they can terminate you at any moment with out cause. However, don't worry too much. Make plans in the event they do decide to terminate but also make sure you receive payment for your labors. Begin insisting on a contract, otherwise they may simply use it to "hang over your head".

Always good to have a "B" plan. No matter what....check out the field...see what else you can apply for...for one you just may find something that pays better and permanent...also, you will have some information to use as leverage to negotiate for yourself regards to better pay or just going from temp to perm. Thats why I love working for myself....employers have too much control over your life, so no matter what check into doing something on the internet like ebay or some other way that pays you ok? Good luck!
