I think they just lack respect and don't care about anything other than themselves. Or maybe they're trying to fit in with a gang or group of people-- trying to make themselves "look cool." Fitting in is something that is important to a lot of people It's hard to find people who strong individuals, who have no need to fit in with any kind of crowd, and actually care and have empathy for others. However, I know I am one.

Personally I think it's an inner need to leave your mark on this world and in your place. It's stupid yes, but think about it. Why do people write their names on paper over and over or write things in general for no sensical reason, other than to leave a mark.

To be heard. It is an advertisment that people look at and they have no other way of expressing themselves. Or the do and want to express themselves so badly they will ruin others property.
