My wife just purchased a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS with the 2.4, 4 cylinder engine. Under the gas lid, it says premium fuel only. Is this a necessity, or would regular be adequate in this car?
Thanks

regular is fine for a 2.4 liter, premium is only required in a v6 or greater.

Yes you have to because the premium fuel ignites at a different level, so if you buy the cheaper fuel than you will clog your fuel injectors!

It's always best to go with what the manufacturer recommends.
