i have to do a 3 part warm up that includes a ball
then i have to do a skills section,
and after that i have to implement the skills into some sort of game.

In our P.E class... we had basketball for 1 quarter. Our coach first taught us how to hold the ball. Then how to dribble. He makes us sit down while dribbling the ball around our bodies.. =__= Then he made us run while dribbling.. then he taught us the proper way to hold the ball for shooting..
yeah... basics..

It's all about the basics, and fundamentals, that is moving the ball around and scoring since that's the purpose of Basketball.
First things first: holding the ball correctly and passing it. That's the most important in my view; you can play and score without bouncing the ball just by moving and passing it adequately. In fact, just so you know, the first offensive strategy to teach players should be fast-break situation. So teach them how to hold the ball correctly and pass it [By the way that's why one of the basics drills in Basketball is '3-men-waves']. Plus, it teaches them to play as a team - dribbling brings too much selfishness and basketball is first and foremost a team game, that's KEY!!! Then you can teach them how to shoot the ball [free-throw & lay-up].By now if you have taught them how to pass the ball correctly it makes it easier to make the transition to shooting because it is the same basic motions! Finally you can get into the dribbling part.

show them how to handle the ball and show them some cool tricks. Then do some ball handling skills, then you can make them play a freethrow shooting game.
Then you could maybe play that game where you have to stay in the area and you have to knock out someone else's ball to get them out and if your ball gets knocked out of the area you are out. And as they lessen, make the area smaller from half court to part of the half court to the paint to the D in the top of the key. Helps develop point guards
