Lewis Hamilton was caught behind Takuma Sato and lost time, he also spent a couple of laps running with more fuel allowing Fernando Alonso to pull out a bit of a gap. After Alonso was ahead I imagine Lewis was reminded that third was a great result and not to throw it away, for himself or the team. He then cut his pace, he got the third, but more importantly demonstrated to the team and everybody else that he is an clever racer and a good team player. I have worked in F1 and the last team I would excpect to try and issue team orders would be McLaren. Lewis Hamilton will have very any more chances for points, podiums, wins and championships. I knew his pace is awesome, but what Australia showed was an incredible amount of intelligence also. I thought it most telling that Jean Todt made a point of congratulating Lewis on the podium. He like all of has seen many new young drivers over the last couple of years. What we saw on Sunday morning was the first of new batch that drives like a champion.

There are a number of things that could of caused it:
1) Hamilton was blocked by traffic
2) Hamilton's in and out laps could of been slower than the more experienced Alonso
3) McLaren don't want Hamilton taking points off Alonso, as it is highly unlikely that Hamilton will win the driver's champ

He got held up by a back marker. He did a great race and could someday be a world champion. Maclaren need to do some serious work to match the pace of the Ferraris, which are built around the bridgestone tyre:)

Great Race tho, well done hamilton. Could Raikenen be the most boring race driver ever to be a champion? OMG he so boring even watching him driving!
