If so, why not let those who are claiming unemployment benefits sign on the dotted line - those who are fit enough of course -?

It would go a long way to reducing tensions in the public about so many foreigners being allowed to move into UK when they have no jobs waiting for them, and they go to the top of the emergency housing list (ALLEGEDLY) PLUS get automatic benefits because they arrived from a NATO country.

If foreigner want to live in another country by claiming asylum, let them prove thier alleigence to the host country by doing 2 years in HMF. No better way today of giving something back to the host country.

QUOTE -
"The number of illegal immigrants entering the UK is hard to quantify."

"A Home Office spokesman agreed, saying that immigrants usually applied for asylum because they would otherwise get no state support. "

Commonwealth citizens can enlist but I don't think people from other countries can. Britain was very disappointed recently when South Africa barred its citizens from joining foreign armies, as there had been thousands of South Africans in the British army.

I don't like to see foreigners who haven't paid tax collecting benefits, either, but you can't force someone to join the army.

the great majority of folk in the U.ok. are descended from immigrants, it is not a foul factor...look at Stephen Fry - the crucial English guy...different than that he's an Easter ecu Jew...Immigration is what shakes us up and adjustments us for the greater effective.
