I believe that 256 mb is not sufficient for Vista. You'll have to get an upgrade. The minimum, for Home Basic is 512 mb

I'm afraid the answer is simple, you don't.
Microsoft recommend between 512 MB & 1GB of system memory as the minimum requirement, depending on the version of Vista.
Microsoft have a "Windows Vista: Upgrade Adviser" tool on their website that will tell you if you are able to run Vista, and how well.
If you did manage to get it to run, it would run about as well as a three legged mule at the Melbourne cup.

you cant... vista needs 1 gb of memory and a 40 gig hard drive to run (about 20 gig will be used just for vista). might look into getting a computer that can handle vista. go to Microsoft web site look for info on windows vista it will give you all the info you need to know about .

You really should not, Vista is a hardware-hog. However, I do know that you can because my brother did it with an old PoS computer, though it was quite literally as slow as molasses. He was even able to play games as well... frankly, I was stunned it didn't blow up on him, lol.

how briskly is your processor? bypass to start, click "my laptop" click "view device counsel" A window will pop up that has all your laptop specs suited there. on the backside this is going to say what processor and how many MHz your processor is. in case you have fewer than 1500 MHz, norton will continuously sluggish you down. Norton protects you each and every of the time, no longer in elementary terms once you're rather utilising it. yet... your laptop is continuously working norton as nicely as besides the fact which you're doing(internet surfing, typing, gaming, etc...) i desire to recommend Avast! antivirus because of the fact it rather is loose and in elementary terms runs once you ask it to.
