My house was built in 1997 and while I was working in the yard, I strated digging up garbage, paint cans, bricks etc. The builders did not throw away thier garbage, instead just buried it. Im thinking that this is what has caused me not to be able to maintain a lawn. When I sod my yard it quickly goes brown, and stays infested with weeds and fungus. I have treated my yard with fungucide, and for critters yet nothing is working. I also have a tree that I planted in the yard that has grown fungus and has not grown in the 7 years. Is there anything that I can do to treat the soil?

Unfortunately you may have compounded the problem by adding all those drugs. It contributes to week, needy grass. What an irresponsible builder! The whole mess will have to be dig up and the garbage removed. Then you'll have to bring in topsoil for a fresh start.
