in the U.S. Henry Ford and the model T " put the nation on wheels " when he raised his daily wage in the factory to $5 there were 10,000 people outside the gates the next day looking for work , this really put motoring in the reach of the common man , and the price of $300 for a new car didn't hurt either . p.s. cars were invented in the 1800's

well, it made work, got us away from the horse and buggy. there were dozens of car makers then,. some were only in business for a couple of years. some cars were the whippet, model t ford, star, roosevelt, diana moon, reo, maxwell. an electric car, stanley steamer., cord, cadillac, dodge brothers, , and many, many others, but my memory wont let me remember them all. i have seen and ridden in most of these cars. in the late thirtys, you could buy a model a ford for 5 dollars most anywhere.=== there was also the franklin and the stutz., pierce arrow, too.
