If the data is Perfectly normally distributed, then the mean and median are the same. However, unless you are *specifically* told that the data is normally distributed, you can't determine the median. (or, if you've been given a set of numbers, you can find the median using the regular methods, but you can't assumed the mean and median are the same if it's not normally distributed.)
