Well, according to Zidane, Materazzi had insulted his family, and that's why he headbutted Materazzi. Zidane is a humble player, but he has a weak point. During his career, he has received lots of red cards because he headbutted his opponents when they insult his mother or his family or his origin (you know that Zidane is an Algeria-born French, right?). Perhaps Materazzi also had known this, because Zidane had played in Italy for some years with Juventus before he went to Real Madrid.
