The true test of a system is its third party support. The X-Box 360 already has a library of over 100 high-def games and is winning exclusive rights to many of the best video game franchises and licenses. The PS3 on the other hand seems to be upsetting third party companies with constant delays and smack talk. In some circles the PS3 is being considered a disaster, and who wants to be stuck with a $600 doorstop when the smoke clears?
The XBOX 360 will allow you to watch those movies in 1080p with its HD DVD player.

The 360 does all that, is less expensive, can media link to your pc and has stolen away some exclusive titles from sony. I used to be a major Sony fan...slowly but surely Microsoft won me over with the games they had and the quality of their systems...I personally have seen 3+ ps2s that went Disk read error...bad sony...the X box is better made..Besides..they lied...there was supposed to be 3 cell chips in the ps3 when they annonced it...it ended up with 1..the 360 is multi processor...save your money...Buy the 360.

depends on what you are willing to spend...and it depends on if you want to risk it with the next gen movie wars (BluRay or HD DVD) Personaly I would go for the PS3, its a bit more expencive but I believe BlueRay will win the next gen disk format because of its higher capacity and capabilities, that and the 360 you have to buy the HD-DVD addon to watch high definition movies. But it also depends on which platform has the games you want to play (although most are now multi platform anyway) but if you just want to watch normal DVDs and arent bothered with high definition and money is an issue then I would wait and see what they plan to do with the DVD playback Wii which they are unsure whether they will release outside of Japan or not
