She's bright and had the ability to do the job, but her attitude was deplorable. She was emotional and ranted openly about people. It got so bad, I talked to my boss that I was going to take my materinity leave 2 months early! To prevent me leaving early, he told me in strict confidence that complaints were already brought up to the senior management team and she wasn't going to pass her 3 month probation. She'd be put on a monthly rolling contract until she improves or she'd be let go. She'd be given written examples of her unacceptable behaviour and list of areas of improvement.

Long story short, she literly walked off the job with no warning a few weeks after her review. When she left, I was given access to check her emails to see work she left hanging. She was ranting to a vendor contact! I guess she needed a new outlet. She also felt how my company tried to rectify her behaviour was illegal based on her lawyer brother. (we decided not to confront the vendor

ACTUALLY THE COMPANY SHOULD HAVE FIRED HER DUE TO HER PERSONAL CONDUCT AND NOT JOB PERFORMANCE.

PERSONAL CONDUCT DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY WRITE UP SINCE IT HARMS COMPANY IMAGE ECT UNLIKE JOB PERFORAMCE WHICH IS MORE INTERNAL WHICH NEEDS TO BE DOCUMENTED.

OPENLY TALKING AND BAD MOUTHING PEOPLE IS STRICKLY UNDER CONDUCT.
THESE PEOPLE CAN BE FIRED FOR FIRST OFFENSE OR GIVEN ONE VERBAL WARNING (DOCUMENTED ALSO) AND FIRED ON SECOND OFFENSE.

,MANY COMPANIES DROP THE BALL ON PERSONAL CONDUCT WHICH INCLUDES DRINKING AFFECTING WORK-LATE WORK-NO SHOW=FAILURE TO CALL IN TO WORK-PROFANITY-SEXUAL OVERTURES-RANTING AND RAVING OR GOSSIP THAT AFFECTS OTHERS..
SEXUAL AFFAIRS WITHIN THE OFFICE ECT...

GENERAL PERSONAL BEHAVIOR IS CONDUCT AND NOT JOB PERFORMANCE.

I'm surprised the vendor didn't contact you. If I were the boss and one of my vendors didn't alert me to unprofessional conduct of one of my employees - he wouldn't be a vendor very much longer.

Absolutely not. Nothing wrong in what they did. Personally, I would have taken action much sooner.
