Basically if you really feel depression and just want to talk to someone

Counseling psychologists will help you with this...because they will talk with you and listen to you

they assess clients and provide psychotherapy. Counseling traditionally involves helping people with what might be considered "normal" or "moderate" psychological problems, such as the feelings of anxiety or sadness resulting from major life changes or events

If they cannot help with your problems, then

Psychiatrist will help you out, they use medication to help you to help release your depression (be careful of using medication because sometimes medication cannot really help at all, like antidepressant, even though this is mostly use in clinical but sometimes it might not be helpful in some cases)
so basically, psychiatrist treating mental illness using the biomedical approach to mental disorders, including the use of medications.

hope this helps....

but remember, sometimes maybe your friends also can help, and take care....hope you feel better

I'm sorry. :(

You don't necessarily have to see a doctor....you can see a counselor first, and they can recommend a doctor. Depending on your situation, the counselor may recommend either a General Practicioner or a psychiatrist.

Start with a general practitioner/family practice doctor. He/she can try some medications, and/or refer you to a psychiatrist or psychologist, as appropriate.

Good luck!

A psychotherapist. They aren't a doctor, just licensed in counseling. If you need medication, he/she could refer you to a psychiatrist who is a medical doctor that specializes in mental conditions.

Hope you feel better soon.

A psychiatrist or psychologist. You can also start by just talking to your general physician and he/she can direct you on the right path for you.
