ARITHMATICALLY -
MARIA IS 34 and JOANNA IS OF 21 YEARS.

Let Maria's age be x
then
x + x + 13 = 55 years
or 2x + 13 = 55
so 2x = 55-13=42
and x = 21
So
Maria is 21 years old and Joann is 21+13 = 34 yrs
