It first depends on what year Z28. There are the years from the middle 1970's to the late 1980's that the Z28 is nothing more than badging and flairs. Second what type of hemi truck. 4x2 or 4x4 and are we talking about two or four doors?. The Difference between one hemi truck and another could be as much as 600 lbs and higher rolling resistance. So until this is know they are both winners---and losers in a race.

The early Z28's (302) if you read your car racing history were made in order to be involved in SCCA sanctioned racing where the cars were limited to 5.0 liters/ 302 Cu natural aspirated or 2.5 liters/151 Cu turbo charger (really only the convair spider at that time) so they were made for tight turning road courses and not 1/4 mile times like the 427 Camaro.

Even the "flair and badge" Z28s were the fastest Camaro models of their time. The DZ302 reference is to the early days, 67-69, when the Z28 was basically a racing Homologation car for the street. The 67 models came with it's exhaust system(Tubular Headers )in the trunk. They were fast, but not the fastest through the quarter-mile, considering some of the later cars. From the late eighties on, the Z28 was offered with the same 5.7 liter engine that went in Corvettes, with a slightly more restrictive exhaust system to keep power levels slightly under the Vette. The later models could get into the 13s through the quarter mile, almost three seconds quicker than the early Zs could originally do, To be fair, the big difference is probably tire technology more than anything else. The early Zs were much lighter than the later ones.
So, to answer your question: if you mean run laps on a race track, any Z28 would beat any Hemi Truck, driving being equal. Top speed: Most Z28s would win. Same with the quarter mile. As refferred to earlier, there were some pretty slow camaros in the late seventies to mid eighties.

Camaro is faster,,,,only that a by design! And by that I mean the truck is so much wider than a car it "Punches" a bigger hole in the wind thus creating more drag on the truck! If you watch pre-race Nascar & Nascar truck races you'll know exactly what I'm typing about! They talk about it all the time! Allong with areo dynamics!!!!! Hope I helped ya!:)

It would depend on how either one of them were built. On a drag strip and both are stock the Z would take the Dodge truck on the line, I would think.
