I feel like it has become underactive, I have gained 15 or 20 pounds over the last several months, any herbs out there to help me out?

Yes, it can become underactive. Your weiht gain is a symptom that it may be happening. The only way to know is to go and get a morning TSH, free t4, free t3, and an antibody test. If the TSH is over 2.0, chances are you are now hypothyroid,

as far as herbs, I'd stay away from them. Some people take iodine, but access iodine can cause hyperthyroid or hypothyroid, so I wouldn't mess with it unless you are iodine deficient.

Supplements like selenium, zinc, and ltryosine may help wit the conversion of thyroid hormone. If you are really hypothyroid, I recommend you go on thyroid meds. I prefer a natural medication and take Armour thyroid.

Yes it can and I have heard of it happening after being treated for an over active thyroid. Have a look on the web, or see a doctor & see if the symptoms match.
