OK I live in backwoods Texas and this heehaw wants to try yoga. I haven't found a class and I wouldn't be surprised if they are few and far between. So I bought this discount DVD and book, I thought...well, you can just dig in, do what you can, and you will get better.

Well, I can't even get all my flab into any of the beginning postures? And it is far from relaxing and meditative because all I'm really thinking is when will I finally just give out and whack my forehead on my camping mat?

So my question is...how do you make even a beginner video easier, yet beneficial? And how do you know you are doing things right when you can't watch the move on TV because you are actually in the posture?

(and will it get better?)

Where in Texas are you? I'm in San Antonio, and there is no shortage of yoga places here.

It is especially hard when you don't have a partner. It may be beneficial to watch the video all the way through and to page through the book before you try the exercises so you can get an idea of what's going on before you dive in. Kind of like studying for a test.

The first time I did yoga, I about passed out. It does get easier the more you do it. It helps to stretch every morning when you get up, and before you go to sleep at night.

Don't give up and good luck!
