do u think that it is necessary for us to support the freedom of speech. give me the pros and cons from ur view point

Freedom of speech is the most basic and important principle of a free society. Of course we should support it.

It is also true, though, that we do not have, nor should we have, absolute freedom of speech. An example commonly given is that we do not have the freedom to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theatre - this might cause a stampede, and therefore injury. We are not free to incite violence with our speech, such as directing terrorism or genocide.

It seems to me that there's generally a clear enough line: if your free speech is intended to provoke physical violence, then it's unacceptable.

However, an important part of free speech is that it may upset or offend people. This is fine; there is no such thing as a right not to be offended, and all sorts of thoughts and opinions we have will upset each other.

There were plenty of people in history (and there still are people now) who were seriously offended by declarations of independence, assertion of voting rights for women, desegregation, the end of apartheid, free practice of various religions, criticisms of various governments - but it was important that these arguments be made, regardless of whether a few people were shocked or not.

Causing offence is fine; causing violence is not. There's a grey area, but it's a pretty simple principle.

I support it within limits. Every Free Society protects that right. You should not be able to shout fire when there is none in a crowded building. If you know that calling someone or a group of people a derogatory name will incite a riot, Free Speech has limits within reason. Should child Molesters/Pedophiles vocalize what they want? Or take pictures of nude children and show them? or would that be an illegal act? Reasonable Free Speech is an exchange of dialogue, designed to make a better society.

Freedom of speech has - and should - have limitations. Libel and public nuisance/disorderly conduct laws have their place in a civilized society. Remember the the freedom of speech is not the same as the right to be heard. Media outlets have the right to choose the content they wish, provided the meet the FCC regulations to which they agree.

certain- Freedom of speech means you've the right to assert what you want, lie or no longer. The area people get stuck up in, is that the freedom of speech does no longer advise you do not could take accountability for what you assert. All of our movements have consequences, as they could. I definitely have the right to allow you to be conscious of a lie- in spite of the consequences of that lie are, I definitely could settle for. Freedom of Speech needs to be exercised with caution and forethought. If you simply blurt out whatever comes to mind, you will not only annoy other people ... you could totally piss them off and endanger yourself. If you use a little discretion, caution and forethought; you can speak your mind without totally alienating the people around you.
