I'm almost always bored. I'm in college right now and it feels like I'm wasting my time. I can't see myself ever working for anyone. I don't see the point anymore. It's hard for me to do things like running errands. Much of the time I feel smarter than almost everyone. Interests in the past don't matter much anymore. I don't know if I want to go on. There are things I want to do like travel, but I have no money. I don't have money because I don't see the point. Everything ends up being a cycle like that. It all ends with me not doing anything. Can someone who has experienced this please try to give your opinion?

i'm pretty much wayyy younger than you are, but....i think that you need to get a job that seems interesting to you and gets you cash. cash is the way the world goes....round...its pretty sad but you need it to survive! if you get a job you might meet someone or maybe you can join thoes extra courses. You might as well not went to college because college is the way to get better JOBS. maybe you could get ideas to start your own company so others can work 4 u. then you could travel and get money but u rn't working! how wonderful! but everyone has to start off somewhere....get off the computer and go find a job!

If you really feel this way but you really want to be happy then use these feelings to your advantage. When you have nothing to lose then you are more capable of taking risks. Realize that you have one opportunity on this Earth and that you can do whatever you want..literally whatever. If you want to quit school pack your bags and join the circus. Its an option. So what Im really trying to say is try to be creative and think about what you want and take some risks.
I was in a pretty bad state a few years ago and I pulled myself out of a heavy depression with some weird *** ways. I tried to put only happy thoughts into my head for awhile. (I watch tv at bedtime and I swear to you I must have watched 54675 cheesy disney type pollyanna movies and I read the whole Harry Potter series because it was easy reading and made me smile) I made myself hit the gym. Youd be surprised at what a little dose of endophins could do to your attitude.
You sound like a thoughtful person..dont waste that by giving up on yourself. Just realize that although now things seem pointless..its the process that is flawed not you. Create your own life that you love. When you are self-sufficient then you will have control which you sound like you need. Just grit your teeth and pull up your bootstraps and make yourself do things even if they seem useless. PS.. I agree that most people are stupid but I bet everyone feels that way lol

It sounds like you're depressed. I had ongoing problems with depression for about ten years, and sometimes it wasn't anything major going on - I just felt like I was bored and something was missing from my life. Your school probably has a counseling office and they may be able to help. They'll probably want you to take antidepressants, and that's okay. It took a few years, but I'm now on medicine that allows me to live the life I want. More importantly, try to find someone you can talk to. If the first counselor doesn't work, don't hesitate to ask to see someone else. They don't mind. (And anyway, it's your life and your deserve someone you connect with.) Only do what you are comfortable with, though, and remember that this period of your life can be difficult, but you'll get through it.

If you want to talk more about it, I would be happy to be your "ear."

Wow buddy, you got some issues. I take it you grew up with everything just given to you correct? You sound like my 22yr old younger brother who still lives at home and has my mother making him peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. He never had to earn anything he got growing up because he was my mother's "baby" and now expects the world to conform to him. I partly blame my mother for letting him develope his unproductive and now very unhappy life. But bottom line is he's a grown man and needs to own up to his responsibilities as do you. My brother expects my mother to provide money for his marijuana and drinking habits, along with putting gas in his V8 gas guzzler my mother also bought for him. Me? I work in an office Monday thru Friday, most times 10 hrs a day. I really don't care for my job either but I'm smart enough to understand that its a necessity. Friday rolls around, I love it because I get paid and I have the next two days off to do or go anywhere I want. I went on vacation last month to Vegas with my girlfriend for a week. One of the best times of my life. You see, this is the type of stuff you need to think about. Set some goals, work your way to them, make wise decisions, and go see the world! If my ex-stoner self can do it you can too. Good luck.

It's possible you are depressed but it's also possible you are suffering from attention deficit syndrome. Either way you need to see a professional. The reason I suspect ADD is because you seem to be having trouble focusing and maybe completing things that you know are necessary but maybe boring. Untreated ADD can also lead to depression. Hope you find your way to a doctor because more than likely your problem can be easily fixed.

I've definitely been there. I'm going to to give you answer you have probably already heard before: Talk to someone. I was just like you a year ago. I was stressed. I don't know about you. I had really bad anxiety and still do. I manage it, though. Whatever you do, don't kill yourself. Please don't. I promise you, it will get better. Religion helps some people. I got a dog. I think you just have to find something you love and truly want to do.

It sounds a lot like depression. I would suggest that you go talk to the nurse at the university's health clinic for an evaluation and possibly medication. Good luck!
