Can you not see that this will never happen, especially if he comes into power? It's always the way - the smaller number of political activists always get their way, whether it benefits the nation of the country or not. I believe that we should do something for our planet, especially about the green issues and look at alternative sources of fuel etc etc. If we KNEW that money was going towards that, maybe some wouldn't mind toooooo much, but we know it'll get swallowed up in other government useless spending...like the Iraq war. Also, some are looking for this tax to rise from the £400 he's proposing to £2000. Where are their electric powered motors? Oh, and I doubt they live in solar powered hovels either. The road tax issue is ridiculous. The problem with our country is that people just accept it, which is why the government get away with it and keep pushing for more. Oh, and the activists getting their way. Ok - rant over!! lol

Economically, the subject with taxing the wealthy is the motivation ingredient. at the instant in the united kingdom tax starts at 22%, which you notice is a great chew on the top of the month. those earning over 35,000 pounds are taxed 40% meaning they're taxed 14,000 a 12 months, meaning they take domicile 21,000 a 12 months. Taxing from now on than 40% does no longer make any sense because of the fact those greater earners may be earning the comparable as those people who artwork much less hours or gets a commission much less, placed you artwork longer hours. the better the fee or tax the less incentive there is to artwork at those severe paid jobs because of the fact they're going to never see the money besides.

How cynical, this is the Mr. Brown who stood alongside tony b.liar 10 years ago and told us they will NOT put up taxes, he's raised various taxes nearly 100 times in his 10 years.
Common sense and the recent efforts of new labour are not words that sit well together.

Road tax for normal cars is going to rise by £5 - £10. Less than £1 a month.

Then the solution is rather obvious- use you vote and vote for another party.
No use hoping for change- it won't happen and furthermore the best predictor of future behaviour, is past behaviour.
Soution: vote Labour out.
Just a quick footnote- how fuel efficient or CO2 negative are combat aircraft and combat vehicles? Or indeed politicians frequent jet-set overseas fact-finding missions to the Bahamas or somewhere nice?

If you think that is bad, just wait until you have to pay per mile as well.
When Gordon Brown becomes Prime Minister, for however short a time, he will bleed us dry.

Gordon Browns overarching aim in life is to tax, tax and tax again. He's a socialist and believes fully that taxation makes society better. Of course this is nonsense but there you go. Taxation only makes people poorer.

There must be tax cuts to lessen the burden on the people instead of implementating the road tax. There must be other ways to generate income by implementing taxes on luxurious items that are being enjoyed by rich people.
