Personally as an atheist, I wouldn't mind, if anything I think it would be better a country being run without being clouded by religion all the time before they make important decisions.
Also it wouldn't be a communist government.

No, I believe the best form of government allows a freedom of thought:
Remember I never said ban religion, I just said an atheist government.

I wouldn't want to ban religion. However having a government that demotes the discriminating teachings of the Abrahamic religions would decrease sexism, racism and Homophobics.
It would be a better place.
It wouldn't be banned but it would be frowned upon.

Kenneth: every atheist would become gods, because atheists deny the existence of God because they want to be their own gods like NIETCHZE.
I certainly don't want to be my own god it would lead me to becoming corrupt.

Well, the old Soviet Union was officially atheist, and quite aggressive about it. That didn't seem to work out well.
China is officially atheist, and has been aggressive in rooting out religions they think are dangerous to the state. China is coming on strong, now.
I'd prefer a government which remains separate from any beliefs about deities, myself. Each to his own, and don't try to jam your beliefs or lack thereof down my throat.

Religion is rooted into the very fabric of our society. There will always be those who cling to their beliefs no matter what anyone says. It is hard sometimes to sit and watch our leaders make decisions based on intolerant or ignorant dogmas. The real problem with an atheist government is much the same. In a religious society as well as an atheistic society oft times we see a strict adherence to a set of beliefs and whether they come from a manifesto or an ancient book they can be equally dangerous. My only hope is that human kind will one day throw off the shackles of narrow minded dogmatism and embrace an open system of government that is truly equal and fair to all.

The way that the current US government flaunts its religiosity is in blatant contravention of the spirit if not the letter of the US First Amendment to the Constitution, which explicitly prohibits Congress from passing laws that will establish a state religion. Also, that southern Baptist thing that Bush and his crew are into is about the most stupid, wicked and intolerant religion this side of the Taliban. Mind you, nobody gets elected in America these days without bleating about how christian he or she is, alas. I notice it doesn't stop them from executing people.

Yes good idea, but unlike you I would make a point of banning religion, all religions.
People can be free to believe in God, nothing wrong with that, if it gives them comfort (like a drug) What they don't need are teachers and leaders telling them theirs is the only 'true' religion.

No, I believe the best form of government allows a freedom of thought, including the freedom to worship how you choose. Whether you choose to worship God, Satan, Nothing, or the Trees, good government allows it's citizens the liberty to choose to worship and believe however, wherever, whatever they deem necessary.

Brilliant... be a bit like Neatherlands where they have hardly any teen pregnancies, a pretty peaceful look after each other society and lots of progressive thinking and highly educated population into equal rights and no homophobia or sexisim or repression

I don't care what religion an MP or Government are so long as they Govern fairly and equally, unlike the current Government who govern by knee jerk reaction and spin.

religion is a private thing, it should have nothing to do with government,
an atheist government doesn't mean antireligious, so it can allow for people of any confession, but this is just a case of civil liberties,
ps: do you really have to precise that atheism is not communism?

I think the government should allow freedom of religion, but should separate church and state, and not make decisions based on religous preferences.

If they brought down taxes, curbed immigration, guaranteed freedom of thought and speech, I'd vote for them
