i hate sceptisism. it realy seems pointless. sceptisism ultimately leads to solipsism. which is a stupid philosophy. because while it is logicaly consistent to itself it is still foundationless and is self contradicting.

there are also alot of theories that pretty much disproves solipsism. like david deutsches areguement and wittgensteins private alnguage arguement. and on top of that how is it that there can be no objective reality? the only logical explanation would be to say its an illusion created by our minds, but if that were true then how is it that we were able to conceive of an illusion if we had no prior reference to anything in order to create it?

so when it realy comes down to it how is sceptisism realy usefeul?

theoryparker's: i dont mean that kind of sceptisism. i mean doubting the existence of your self and others. solipsism is necesserily incoherent and foundationless in order for it to make sense.

I'm not sure about so much as scepticism, but I do believe it necessary to always ask questions. If we don't ask questions we will never receive answers. Of course, in asking, we have to be believing that at least we will receive an answer, even if the answer isn't the one we anticipated. To be pessimistic and critical in a negative way isn't a positive force, so I believe it best to view life with optimism and hope that truth will prevail. Essentially, the world around us is a representation of what is in our hearts and our minds. If we see the world through sceptical eyes, and a negative mind set, the world will look dark and gloomy. Likewise, if we view life with optimism and brightness and hope, light will flourish around us. I do believe in this priniciple of the laws of attraction. Like attracts like. And the conception begins with our thoughts. We are creators, and we organize the world around us with our thoughts.

How is skepticism useful? Gee, I dunno. Without skepticism, I guess you would believe anything anyone tells you. Does that seem like a good idea to you? I sure hope not.

I find it disconcerning that you find a philosophy that is logically consistant stupid. If there were theories that really disprove solipsism, they would be more than theories.

I would agree with you though that there would have to be an objective reality.

A skeptic is someone who questions the validity of a certain belief or topic. Is every belief and conception true and sincere? That is a good question!I don't believe everything I hear .Do you?If you don't believe everything you hear and see, then you are a skeptic.Do some research on the subject before you accept it.I think that is a smart and cautious thing to do.
