It is cheap, but not for single women or even small groups of only women. Please people, do post a few details to enable us to answer properly at least!

I've never taken a tent to India or anywhere else in Asia, but then I've never gone trekking in out of the way places.

There are plenty of good places to stay, that are reasonably priced, in cities, towns and larger villages so why carry what you don't need...but research your proposed destinations to ensure that there are going to be guest houses along the way. If you're sticking to fairly major places, you definitely don't need a tent.

However, you might want to take a sleeping sheet in case you end up somewhere, for a night, that you don't like the look of the bed linen provided.

Yes. In India, acommodation is affordable. Being a densely populated country, you may not be able to use your tents in the inhabitated areas. If you specify, the places you are visiting, then specific recommendations can be made

In india hotels are quite expensive. In south east asia hotels are cheap.you dont need to tent.
