without friction if any energy what-so-ever was applied to the car, it would move without stopping, EVER! Energy will make the car move, friction will hold the car to the ground.

When a vehicle moves along a curved path, it is performing circular motion for which the necessary centripetal force is provided by the 'force of friction' b/w the road&the tyres of the vehicle. This force of friction PREVENTS THE CAR FROM OVER-TURNING.However,the dependence of friction has certain disadvantages:
1.The frictional force is a limiting value. Therefore, if the speed of the car exceeds a certain value or the curve is very sharp, the force of friction may not be sufficient to provide the necesssary centripetal force(this force acts along the radius&towards the center reqd for a vehicle to move in a circular path).Hence, the car is likely to overturn outwards.
2.The force of friction depends on the nature of the surfaces of the tyres&the road surface in contact&hence, it will not be the same all the times.
3.It is not a reliable force, b'z its magnitude decreases when the road becomes wet due to rains or when oils from the vehicle falls on the road.
4.Moreover too much of friction causes wear&tear of the tyres.
Actually, when the car moves along the horizontal road it does not need friction. It actually works while the car is moving along the circular path. That too its risky.Hence for this purpose, the road is kept incined at the curve to PREVENT OVER-TURN.

In short: Without friction the wheel would continue to rotate at its place, but the car wouldn't move an inch.
For details : There are numerous books on rotation.

First of all the engine wont work, because the spark plug of the engine wont spark without friction, even if the engine worked or it was an electric car, the weels would keep on spinning in one place and even if you stopped the engine the wheels would never stop, without friction

Friction allows the car's tires to grip the ground and push / accelerate the car forward...
Friction also allows the car to come to a stop...

Without friction, the wheels would not grip the road; rather, they would spin around in place and the car would not be propelled forward.
