i think it is a team by team basis. i live near denver and i have met broncos cheerleaders at some of their autograph signings and there are a couple with tattoos and a piercing here and there. but i used to live in kansas city and also went to some of their cheerleaders autograph signings and i never saw any tattoos or piercings. i have family in saint louis and Cincinnati who i have asked about your question and they give mixed responses much like mine. i do not think there is any sort of guidelines for it that the NFL regulates.

I have watched several teams cheerleader tryouts on NFL network and have not seen any belly button rings on the ladies. However, I would be willing to bet that each squad has its own rules. Also, they are most likely going to want uniformity with all the ladies. So, it will probably not be a good idea to have.
If you are referring to other piercings....as long as they can not be seen in the uniform they should be okay.

My daughters are cheerleaders...
and theres typically NO policy governing body piercings or body art...
for marketing purposes, they suggest a cover up or they select those that would be the best representatives for their PR...
but - they are along way from fans and small jewelry is very difficult to see.
