There are many bones, tendons and ligaments in your ankle and foot. If you didn't do anything in particular to injure it, most likely you've got tendonitis, or something could be stuck out of place, like a tendon out of its groove. These things tend to come out of nowhere and go away by themselves, so get some rest and don't be surprised if it is gone by morning. If you can stand it, putting your foot in a bucket of ice water can often work miracles, but it can be agonizing. If the pain persists, and/or you know how you injured it, you should probably see a orthopedic foot and ankle specialist. Women who wear a lot of high heels tend to develop ankle and foot problems that may require treatment or surgery to repair.

Take some ibuprofen (Advil) or aspirin.

You don't say how long it's been this way. If it's still bothering you in the morning, make an appointment to see your doctor.

It may be a torn tendon, a sore footsie, or any number of things.
