The best laptops that have always been used by corporate "road warriors" types have been IBM/Toshiba/Dell. IBM and Toshiba have been the top-tier as well as higher priced lines. Last year, IBM sold off their PC division to Lenovo, a Chinese company. So now the jury is out regarding their quality and tech support rep for at least another year or two because it is no longer IBM. Most corps have seemed to make the switch to Dell Latitudes. Also, if you see news clips of military ops rooms, you'll see nothing but a sea of Dell laptops. How's that for an endorsement. Military standards are quite high for durability, climate-resistance, peformance.

Sony has only just entered the corporate laptop world.

If it's between HP and Toshiba, go Toshiba.

My personal preference is Dell. The quality is just as good and the Tech Support is excellent.

The main issue is to judge the guarantee and support service. If you have an office nearby you should go for better support after purchase.
Personaly I haven't heard bad of toshiba but if Hp beats up with support service you must think things over.
Generaly Hp products were alway a bit overpriced, but they offer good support service.

There are approximately 8 top brands, such as: Dell, Fujitsu, Acer, HP, Toshiba, Sony, IBM, and after two years of research, the one I fancy most, the Packard Bell.

Determine what your essential needs are, then, research a little further. It will pay in the end.

Go for the Toshiba! My Dad ahs had three HP Pavillion machines and had nothing but trouble from all of them. I have a Toshiba Tecra A3 and although it is not as high spec as the HP it has given me three years of completely trouble free use. If you can afford one, go for a VIAO as they are well spec'd and great looking machines. If not then the Toshiba is good value.
