I had a friend with breast cancer, this was her first symptom. people that young get breast cancer and die of it simply because they think they are too young to have it and dont get checked out.

Bleeding from the nipple is usually due to cancer. However, if both nipples are bleeding, it is probably not cancer. Most likely, her nipples are chapped from cold weather and/or going without a bra and her shirt or sweater rubbing against her skin. Wash off the blood, have her apply pressure, and when the bleeding stops, apply some Vaseline or antibiotic ointment. If this persists, advise her to see a doctor. She might have a bleeding disorder. Good luck with her.

The following medical conditions are some of the possible causes of bleeding nipple. There are likely to be other possible causes, so she should definitely ask a doctor about her symptoms.
Benign breast tumor
Breast duct cancer
Breast cancer
Breast duct papilloma - typically a bloody nipple discharge
Breast abscess.
Paget's disease of nipple - can cause a bloody nipple discharge.
In addition, as to what kind of doctor she should see, a general practitioner, dermatologist or a general surgeon would be the obvious choices. She could also go to an emergency room.
Good luck to her.

Hey, obvoiously the problem is related to her milk ducts. If she does not get it checked then she may not ever be able to breast feed safely. Bleeding from any part of ythe body that is unusual like this is never a good thing. Something is either blocked or ruptured or infected. None of these 3 things are likely to go on their own.
Take it from me, she needs to go to the Doctor ASAP

Bleeding from the breast is very serious and as some of the other posters said it can be a symptom of breast cancer.
It is imperative that she sees her dr to find out what is going on.

how can anyone allow themselves to bleed and not see a doctor???? It can be cancer, it can be a benign tumor as well, it can even be padgets disease of the nipple, but no treatment will get her sicker, not better.

Could be to do with the bra she is wearing. Some materials (in cheap bras) are abrasive, and underwire bras don't help either - still she needs to have it checked out
