OK, I know this is a stupid question, and I also know I've asked it before, but I didnt get a good answer. I'm 34, very pale, with dark hair and eyes, if that matters. In the last two years, my "area" had gone from a light/darker around the edges pink to almost black. The inside of my inner labia is still pink, but the outsides of the lips are like a dark gray. I really don't think I have an STD - I've only had 1 partner for the last 8 years, and everything else area related is normal. I read somewhere that the color can change as you get older. Am I old enough for the getting older thing?? I would really like to avoid the gyn because I dont have insurance at the moment and I so hate going. Help!

this is natural, stop obsessing, you were answered as i did the answering, there are no doctors on this thing wasting their time, most women with dark vaginal skin are usually itallian or greek or middle eastern, but it can happen, check your mother, i bet she is dark there too. also that flesh usually darkens with age on every woman.

The inner labia can vary in color from pink to brownish black depending on the color of a woman's skin. Like nipples, the inner labia can change color as women mature.
Hormonal changes may be causing your labia to change color, and this is normal. However, if there is indication of unusual growth, swelling, or infection please seek a doctor's advise.
Additionally, you mentioned a grey color...if it were light, shiney grey, that could also mean anything from a yeast infection (but you would most likely also be experiencing itching ) to something called "Lichen sclerosus" which is a common type of vulvar skin disorder with an unknown cause, but with this you would also experience itching. If this is the case, I would urge you to visit a doctor.
Good luck to you.

Yes, the labia can change colors, and as Starwood said in some races such as Italian and Hispanic (I'm one quarter Hispanic because of my mom's family) but as for a grayish color you really need to be seen by a dr.

You said that you don't want to see a gyn because you don't have insurance. Check with your city's health dept to see if they offer a free clinic that you can go to. If not, check to see if there is a Medical School close to you that you can go to.
