find some make-up that you like then over the weekend experiment with it then it will be easier to see what looks best on you. i have been wearing make up for only 3 years but you will get better at it with more practice. and yes make-up does take practice

Try to start with a foundation, but it isn't always needed. Liquid foundation or sheer foundation is the best. For me at least. Try TruBlend for it is light and it doesn't leave a makeup line.
Mascara and a little bit of eyeshadow gives a good look for most girls, even if you aren't a girlie girl. If you don't feel you want to look too different, go for a lighter lip gloss that doesn't differ too much from your normal lips.
If you do feel daring put on a little eye liner on the bottom lid, but it is good if you get a bit of practice first. Maybe even wear a lipgloss or lipstick that is 1-2 shades darker than your normal lips.
More or less, the color of your clothes counts on what eyeshadow and/or eyeliner you put on. A lighter or same shade color will work, but so will a color that just looks good with the color of your clothes.

Step 1 - Put a small amount of concealer on your fourth fingertip and dot it on, moving from the outside corner of the eye inward, and back out again. The most important and easily overlooked place to put concealer is the inner corner of your top lid. Put a bit slightly below your dark circles to avoid the raccoon-like look.
Step 2 - You can apply concealer over or under foundation, but no matter which way you choose, be sure to blend, blend and blend. If you prefer, use a triangular makeup sponge to blend in a gentle back-and-forth dotting motion. Do not pull or rub; you will stretch your delicate thin skin!
Step 3 - After applying, smile into the mirror and check that it is evenly applied and hasn't crept into the little lines around your eyes. If that happens, blot gently with a tissue.

My philosophy for makeup is: less is more. I wasn't much for eyeshadow, so I wouldn't worry about that.
-If you could, get your eyebrows arched-just a natural arch, nothing fancy; just cleaning up what's already there
-your foundation should match your skin color. (pay attention to the area around the eye if you don't have concealer already)
-black mascara, if any (one coat)
-I don't like to bother with lipstick; line lips with a pencil about two or three shades darker than skin and use a nude or clear gloss on lips; you could just use the gloss if you like
I wore that look in the past (and occassionally still do) and always got compliments. I don't like to look overdone. I just enhance what lovely attributes I already have.

if you want to look nice, but natural, i suggest you use some foundation and maybe some bronzer so shine your face a little. and also wear mascara and curl your eyelashes. and maybe a little pale eyeshadow to enhance your eyes or maybe put some eyeliner on your eyes and smear it a bit.
If you want to look made up, then i suggest smokey eyes. eyes are definetly importnat no matter the occasion.

play up your eyes. nightime is the best time for this. what ever you do don't match eyecolor and eyeshadow color. use complementary colors blue eyes=gold, orang-browns, peach/copper, mauve, plum, taupe or carmel. green eyes=coppers, rusts, pinks. plums mauves, and purples. anything with red undertoen. brown eyes are neutral can wear anything. use lots of mascara
