Ok I was about 8 or 9 years old, right now I'm 19...I went outside early in the moring when the sun was still over the horizon...I was picking up some woods when I saw a blue flash on the ground followed by a loud bang and a ugly crackling sound...when I looked up there was an outline of a planet with the blue light behind it fading away...The sound was loud that it made me twitch hard...the crackling sound was eerie too...I am still wondering what happened that morning...when I ask some friends they tell me that it was something about Jupiter Saving earth from a comet or astroid....So if anyone can tell me or explain to me what it was that I saw...this was like 11 years ago...That light was also between where the sun comes up and when the sun is in the middle of the sky(Noon)....I am still curious about this...It was also around this time of year and I am living in the United States in Arizona....Any answers would be Great...

i am not sure what the noise you heard might have been, maybe the sonic boom of an airplane. but i think i have a good guess as to what you migh have seen in the sky, and the only reason i think i know what it is, is that i saw it too!!! it was comet hale-bopp. looked just like a tear in the sky with a pale blue color. i hope this helps!!!!!!!!

Ball lightning seems as good a theory as any based on your description. Another possibility would be that it was a bolide, an exploding meteor. They flash like lighting and bright meteors can leave a visible trail for many seconds...the debris cloud from the explosion might also appear as a ball which would likewise fade after several dozen seconds. The mysterious part is the sound. There are reports of meteors making audible sounds that seem defy the normal speed of sound rule...mening the sound is heard almost instantaneously. Whatever it was, I'm sure there is a natural explanation for it.
FYI, I didn't look at the links for the Phoenix Lights but they weren't UFOs. They were military flares deployed on parachutes over the Goldwater Range southwest of Phoenix. Of course, the UFO kooks have gone nuts over it. Still, your description does not match anything like the Phoenix Lights.

Ball lightning or a bolide both seem plausible. Hearing noises with meteors is very rare, but some people have described it as a crackling sound. The effect is called "electrophonics" though there's no real understanding of what causes it.

You really need to give more information such as what were the weather conditions. If I was to make a guess, you might have seen ball lightning. See the wikipedia article for more information.

It could have been a meteor. Get a geiger counter and check it out, they are worth a lot of money. Be careful!

Right around that time there was the famous "Phoenix Lights" incident although it occurred at night I believe.
